To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Washington Foreign Press Center (WFPC) organized a tour to the campus of Howard University, where they visited the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center, a national research library and archive dedicated to the study of black history and culture. Journalists from Austria, China, Germany, the Czech Republic, Korea, and Poland were offered a briefing and went on a behind- the- scenes tour of the archives where they viewed documents, photographs, personal diaries, and other memorabilia from the Civil Rights Era.
