Fourteen foreign media from nine countries covered Monticello’s 52nd annual July 4th celebration and citizenship ceremony. They first filmed opening remarks by David Rubenstein, the founder of the Carlyle Group and a prominent philanthropist from an immigrant family. Media then covered the citizenship ceremony itself and had one-on-one interviews afterwards with new citizens from over 30 countries, including Afghanistan, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Germany, India, Iraq, Jordan, Korea, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, Syria, Taiwan, and the UK. The tour concluded with a behind the scenes guided tour of Monticello and interviews with officials and curatorial staff.
