The Washington Foreign Press Center organized a tour to the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR) in Arlington, Virginia, to explore the U.S. government’s efforts to combat global intellectual property (IP) theft. IPR Center Director Lev Kubiak briefed journalists on the nature and global challenges of IP theft. The brief included an interactive analysis on how technology makes it more difficult to identify counterfeit items and the entities that sell them. Journalists were also shown various examples of counterfeit items confiscated through interagency and international collaboration. Nineteen journalists from China, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Japan, Korea, Macedonia, Spain, and Yemen participated on this tour
