Nine business and foreign policy journalists from leading European economic media outlets participated in a a ten-day Washington Foreign Press Center reporting tour to Brussels, Belgium; Washington, DC; and Charleston, South Carolina to learn about U.S. public and private perspectives on the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). In Brussels, the group attended a range of public events around the ongoing TTIP negotiations and met with both the U.S. and E.U. chief negotiators. During the U.S. segment of the tour, they met with policy makers and opinion leaders at the State Department, Congress, Small Business Administration, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, AFL-CIO, and other key stakeholders. The journalists also heard perspectives from various companies and organizations that would be affected by changes in the rules governing trade between the world’s two largest economies.
