Twelve journalists from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh took part in the week-long, three-city program that sought to provide a deeper understanding of U.S. strategies and efforts to counter terrorism at the city, state, and national level.  In Washington D.C. the group gained important insight into USG CT strategies through briefings with the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Meetings with law enforcements entities in New York City and Los Angeles highlighted efforts to build CT capacity and improve law enforcement coordination at the local-level, as well as with partners across the South Asian region.  Briefings with leading civil society organizations and think-tanks, such as the Brennan Center for Justice in New York City and RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, emphasized factors required to balance national security and the protection of civil liberties in the current threat environment.
