Foreign journalists from around the world traveled to Delaware to learn about the new park established by President Obama, March 26, 2013 – The First State National Monument. The Park tells the story of early Dutch, Swedish, Finnish and English settlements of the colony of Delaware, their history and contribution to America. Russ Smith, Superintendent of the First State National Monument was our guide and briefer as we visited Fort Christina and Old Swedes Church in Wilmington, Delaware and Fort Casimir and Court House in New Castle, Delaware.
