This was the second program in a series on mega sports events that the New York Foreign Press Center sponsored. Fifteen journalists from eight countries attended an NYFPC briefing in Central Park at the Finish Line of the annual ING NYC Marathon. Peter Ciaccia, Executive Vice President of Event Development & Broadcast Production for the New York Road Runners (NYRR), briefed the group on his organization’s planning and production of the world’s largest marathon, including extensive advance coordination with local, state and federal government agencies. Ciaccia also discussed the local tourism and economic impact of the race, which brings many international athletes to New York.
