This was the first of two tours to examine clean-up efforts and conservation of the Bay. The second tour, planned for sometime this summer, will look at the Maryland side.

A group of eight journalists from China, Italy, Romania and Slovakia, visited the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), College of William & Mary, at Gloucester Point, Virginia where they were briefed by marine scientists and visited labs to learn about biosensors, marine debris, sustainable fisheries and oyster breeding (VIMS Oyster Hatchery). After the VIMS visit, journalists boarded vessels for a tour of Chessie Seafood and Aquafarms to see restoration of oyster beds, and a commercial sustainable oyster fishing enterprise. (Miriam Rider).
