Journalists from Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Switzerland, and Japan traveled to Rochester, NY, for an overnight tour to cover the optics industry. Rochester is the world leader in optics and imaging technology and home to more than 50 growing optics manufacturing businesses. Industry experts project an additional 30,000 jobs for the region in the next 3 years.
Journalists met with business leaders from several companies including: QED Technologies, ITT Exelis, Smart System Technology & Commercialization Center, OptiPro, and the University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics Lab, which hosts two of the highest energy lasers in the world. Part one of the “Made in America” tour was in Albany, NY, focusing on the Semiconductor Industry.
