The Smithsonian’s Asia Pacific American Center offered FPC journalists a sneak peek at both their new Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Exhibit “I Want the Wide American Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story” and their upcoming Indian heritage exhibit “Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation” (opening December 2013). Several Smithsonian staff from both programs were on hand to provide in-depth, one-one-one interviews, further explaining the motivations and concepts behind the exhibits which have taken several years to develop. Five FPC journalists covered the event while two more requested contact information to follow-up with the Center independently. When the “I Want the Wide American Earth” exhibit travels on to Los Angeles later this year, the Smithsonian will provide the FPC with a news release to alert our journalists on the West Coast.
